Deputy President William Ruto has said that the OKA and Raila camps were unaware of the existence of the Mount Kenya region. He said he welcomed them personally because they claim to be looking for a network in the Mount Kenya region.
“We welcome them and like to inform them that while they were away, we built roads in the Mount Kenya region, and we connected households to electricity in Mount Kenya. While they were away, we built a technical training Institute in the Mount Kenya region, and we also built a church in the Mount Kenya region,” said Ruto.
According to Ruto, the OKA and Raila camps were using Google Maps to find directions to the Mount Kenya region.
“We welcome them because the Mount Kenya region is our home, and all visitors are welcome. When they come to visit us, however, they should keep in mind that I am the Mount Kenya political supremo,” he said.
Meanwhile, ODM party leader Raila Odinga has said that there are politicians who amass wealth through corruption and then deceive the public by offering buses, money for women’s groups, money for youth groups, and church donations.
Raila said that the individuals who are donating Ksh1M on a regular basis are enemies of the Church of God.
“I plan to introduce a social welfare kit that will allow us to care for those who do not have. A family that does not have will be given a cash stipend of Sh6,000 per month. We should love each other despite our differences, prejudices, and ethnic and gender races,” Raila said.
“We must unite and build Kenya as one nation. Taxes must be paid, but they must be reasonable. When taxes are excessively high, people have a tendency to avoid paying them. As a result, if the government lowers taxes, everyone will be more comfortable paying taxes, and we will be able to provide resources for low-income families,” he said.
Raila said that the Azimio la Umoja initiative aimed at promoting Kenyan unity. He said ‘Utu’, ‘Umoja,’ ‘Usawa’ na Uzalishaji are all represented by Azimio La Umoja and ‘Utu’ can also mean ‘love’ or ‘respect.’
