Inside UDA plan to lock Kiagu As Aspirants Scramble For The Ward

Must read

Kiagu ward by-election aspirants fall the victims of a meeting that was held in Kiagu.

The meeting was all about addressing the move by the security officials in Kiagu to bar aspirants from conducting meetings.

However, according to aspirant Harun Muthamia, the UDA party candidate Simon Kiambi Ngaruni, on the other hand, has been given a free pass to hold rallies and meetings.

“When aspirant Milton Kabogo Mwenda attempted to conduct a meeting, he was tear-gassed. We had agreed that Kiagu Ward would have a level playing field after a meeting with IEBC and no aspirant would be given preference over another. We were barred from holding meetings for no apparent reason. Our request to the security team, beginning with the area manager, assistant chief, and chief, is to ensure justice is served,” Muthamia said.

He said that when the UDA party officials realized that the UDA party candidate was unpopular among the residents, they set out on a mission to sell the party to the people.

Another aspirant, Patrick Kananda, said that their lives were in danger after one of the aspirants was attacked late at night at his home and his car damaged.

“We ask the government to protect us so that we can conduct our campaigns in peace. We have been barred from speaking in churches, markets, and community groups. We do not want Hon. Kirima of Kiagu ward to sell his favorite aspirant because the residents are the ones who make the decision,” said Kananda.

Kananda said he would step down for Member of Parliament representing Imenti Central Constituency, Hon. Moses Nguchine Kirima if he wished to resign and run for the MCA seat.
