An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was attacked Tuesday night at Erbil International Airport, a short distance from the US consulate in the northern city of Iraq, the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said in a statement.
The attack, which took place around 22:30 (Greek time), did not cause any injuries or serious material damage. Firefighters put out the fire shortly after it broke out, according to the same source.

The Pentagon said in a statement that it had received no information about a UAV attack in Arbil, but said it had no reports of casualties or severe damage at the airport, where US military personnel are being recruited.
U.S. Department of Defense spokeswoman Capt. Jessica McNulty did not elaborate.
A car bomb had exploded at an Iraqi police recruiting center at Kisak, west of Baghdad, on Friday night, killing at least two people and wounding dozens more.
Since the beginning of 2021, there have been nearly fifty attacks against US interests in Iraq, where 2,500 US troops remain deployed as part of the international coalition formed against the Islamic State (IS) jihadist organization.
