Hashido Romero Flores, 60, who worked for Ori Estéreo FM, had recently complained that he was receiving threats.
A journalist working for a radio station in the state of Veracruz in eastern Mexico was shot dead by gunmen on Thursday, the state Department of Public Safety said.

The Chasinto Romero Flores, 60, who worked at the station Ori Estereo FM , was on Potrerigio district in Ixtakokitlan community by becoming attacked.
An investigation is underway “after the murder of journalist Hashido Romero Flores (…), operations are underway to find the perpetrators” of the attack, he said in a press release issued by the Ministry of Public Security.
The journalist had recently complained that he was receiving threats , stressed the Mexican branch of the non-governmental organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

At least six journalists have been killed so far in 2021 in Mexico. Authorities have not yet determined whether their deaths were due to their work.
Mexico is one of the most dangerous countries in the world for media workers. More than a hundred journalists have been killed there since 2000, according to figures from the Mexican Human Rights Commission.
Eight journalists were killed in 2020, according to RSF.
