Police officers in Kisumu foiled a robbery attempt at Equity Bank, Angawa branch, Kisumu County today 23rd November, 2021 at about 1125 hours.
The incident was reported by police officers performing guard duties at the said facility.
It is believed that the suspects flashed a threatening note to a bank teller with a message that they avail to them an undisclosed amount of cash which prompted commotion in the banking hall.
The two police officers on duty sealed off the premise and called for reinforcement.
The arrival of a team comprising of APS, DCI and KPS successfully contained the threat.
All customers have been safely evacuated and will undergo screening as investigations, which will include extraction of a cctv footage from the facility, is heightened to rule out involvement in the foiled robbery.
Several suspects are in custody assisting with investigations.
