Member of Parliament for South Imenti Constituency Hon. Murungi Kathuri has once again launched a scathing attack on Meru County Chief Of Staff Mr. Gideon Kimathi publicly while addressing residents of South Imenti in Meru County.
Kathuri launched a scathing attack on Gideon Kimathi over the insults previously addressed to him. Kimathi declared his candidature for 2022 South Imenti’s legislative seat.
Kathuri slammed Kimathi for lack of experience, saying that electing him would stymie development in South Imenti.
The South Imenti MP challenged his opponent over emerging victorious saying that trying to compete with a legend like him wouldn’t be easy and that he would lose.
“I didn’t sleep in the last four years. I’ve given out over 20,000 bursaries to students through the National Government and many others through my foundation. Those children are the source of all my blessings, but I don’t boast about it,” said Kathuri.
According to Kathuri, God cannot give Gideon Kimathi the authority to rule the people of South Imenti because people may be killed as a result of his insults.
He said the heart of Gideon Kimathi was troubled.
“In the last election, I emerged victorious with 34,000 votes. Because I have never deceived South Imenti residents during my two terms in office, I have set a target of 60,000 votes from my supporters. I decided that before ascending to higher office, Kimathi should learn to respect elders and that it is wrong to insult them,” said Kimathi.
He said that he intended to run for Meru Governor, but after being insulted by Gideon Kimathi, he decided to run for re-election instead.
“God once told me that one day I would be able to fulfill my dream of becoming Meru Governor. South Imenti residents elected me twice, and I urge them to re-elect me for another term, after which I intend to run for Meru Governor when Kiraitu’s term ends,” said Kimathi.
“Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi is from South Imenti and residents made him Mp for 20 years. He was later elected as Meru Senator for 5 years, and Meru Governor for 5 years. I urge South Imenti residents not to let the county fall into the hands of the wrong people, or its future will be lost,” said Kathuri.
Kathuri said that political strategists should advise Gideon Kimathi to take it slowly and patiently so he could inherit his entire team.
“He should be informed that I will not seek re-election until I have completed all development projects in the next five years,” said Kathuri.
