Kathuri’s Surprise Choice of Kiraitu’s Right-hand Man As MP

Must read

Political temperatures are rising in South Imenti sub-county of Meru County where development-related forums are being used for political debates.

Officials from Meru County government, including chief of staff Gideon Kimathi, and elected leaders, including MCA DMK Kiogora, attended a forum held on September 8, 2021 in Kathatene village of South Imenti.

Member of Parliament for South Imenti Constituency Hon. Kathuri Murungi received a lot of criticism from leaders who were given the opportunity to speak while supporting Gideon Kimathi 2022 MP’s bid.

“According to Section 58(A) of the Vuguvugu party act, a leader should only serve two terms in office, regardless of his track record of development. Under Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s rule, the South Imenti seat will be given to Gideon Kimathi by replacing him with Hon Kathuri Murungi, a party official said.

He claimed that residents only benefited from iron sheets during Hon Kathuri’s ten-year tenure.

“Hon. Kathuri has completed ten years in office, and all is well with those who have benefited from him. May God bless those who did not benefit, including myself, as they welcome Gideon Kimathi. We’ll also give Gideon Kimathi two terms in office, after which he’ll be replaced,” he said.

He said that  Abogeta West ward MCA Hon. DMK Kiogora would also serve his final term, after which he would be expected to resign and either seek employment abroad or run for Mp or Senator.

“We elected Hon. Kathuri Murungi twice and do not hate him. Residents of South Imenti are encouraged to vote for Gideon Kimathi because of his extensive network. We urge residents to vote for Gideon Kimathi, who will bring about positive changes,” he said.

He said that Mitunguu, Aboget East, Igoji, and Ntharene residents declare their support for Kimathi.
