Kawira Mwangaza words of wisdom and donation that touched Malaeni School

Must read

Meru County MP and Governor Aspirant Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta disbursed food donations to the Meru County Government through the National Government after she addressed questions on food security and natural disaster preparedness to the CS. Devolution & ASALs on 19th Oct 2021.

Speaking in Malaeni primary school in Igembe Central, Meru County where she donated maize bought using her own money and beans donated by Baite Family Fellowship church visitors, gumboots, and Giant umbrellas, Hon. Kawira said that Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi’s office had been tasked with distributing food to schools in Meru County and that her office had not received any donations.

“The Kianjai Market women’s group donated beans and asked me to donate them to my Okolea programs. During my school visits in Meru County, I received a WhatsApp message from a teacher asking me to visit a school. I decided to pay a visit to the school in less than a week and donate food to the children that would last them two or three weeks because I am their mother county,” said Kawira.

According to Kawira, she witnessed the challenges that the Malaeni school was experiencing. She said that she planned on looking for a solution.

“Previously, I represented Meru County in Parliament and said that the residents were facing a hunger strike. I implore the Meru County government to donate a lorry of food to Malaeni School because the children are on a hunger strike. I know Kiraitu Murungi’s government will watch Baite Tv, and I urge them to remember the school because the children are in terrible condition,” said Kawira.

Kawira said that the Meru County government officials, led by Kiraitu Murungi, should avoid driving on tarmacked roads and instead pay a visit to the Malaeni School located in Igembe Central, where it hadn’t rained in a long time, and donate food.

“They should avoid donating food to schools that already have enough food and instead visit schools like Malaene and other similar schools in the dry areas. The donation will enable the children who are staying at home to return to school and continue their education,” Kawira said

Meru County MP Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza asked the following questions to the CS. Devolution & ASALs on 19th Oct 2021.

(ii) What steps is the Ministry taking to ensure food security in Meru County, particularly during natural disasters such as floods, drought and famine?

(ii) What measures has the Ministry put in place to establish natural disaster preparedness mechanisms in Meru County particularly with regard to floods, drought and famine?

Hon. Kawira said that the food she donated to the school was purchased with her own money, not by the national government. She described the donation as a blessing.
