Former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale remarked in an interview with CITIZEN TV that Gideon Moi cannot advance and cannot even defeat Prof. Kiyiapi if only the two of them were on the ballot.
Pres. Kenyatta, he added, wants to succeed himself, either by becoming president or by being succeeded by someone he likes or by an ethnic group he likes.
“What he was fighting for was political legitimacy. What he did not know is that those of us who were in NASA, We were also divided,” he said.
“There were those of us who believed that the fight was over, but there are those who said no, we should go on, including going to pretend that you are taking a presidential oath.
“So, he was looking for political legitimacy, he succeeded. He has had to make a decision, Who do I thank most?
“So he chose Gideon Moi. That’s why he gobbled around one Kenya Alliance, Mudavadi here, Wetangula there, Kalonzo there and all manner of the little things, Gideon Moi himself.
“He found that Gideon Moi cannot move. Gideon Moi cannot even defeat Professor Kiyapi for president if they’d only those two are on the ballot paper.
“So the president has had to shift to Raila odinga who is more pushable.
“Kitchen cabinets are gobbled to respond to what the president wants to achieve.
“President Mwai Kibaki, because he wanted to fix our economy, his kitchen cabinet looked economical.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta became president three times. Don’t forget 2013, 2017 round 1, 2017 round three.
“President Uhuru Kenyatta, because he wanted to succeed himself either by himself becoming the president round four or somebody he’s comfortable.
“Because the president wanted to succeed himself, he refused to accept the current constitution that says, after 10 years, he should go home.
“So he started imagining that he would succeed himself and in the process he crafted a kitchen cabinet to help him achieve that.
“By succeeding himself is that either himself becoming president for a fourth time or Himself being succeeded by somebody, he prefers, Or himself being succeeded by an ethnic Community, that he prefers.
“And this way he has had this kitchen cabinet that would help them to achieve those things.
“Nothing’s strange, even when countries go to war, the president then normally crafts a war kitchen cabinet.
“So I want to say he’s doing the right thing, although what he’s doing is unconstitutional and illegal,” he said.
