In an interview with CITIZEN TV, Bonny Khalwale, former Kakamega senator, said that without Daniel Moi, Uhuru would never be president because he was defeated in Gatundu.
He stated that it would have been tough for Uhuru to make it in 2013 and 2017 without the help of William Ruto.
He went on to argue that if it hadn’t been for Raila, Uhuru would never have had legitimacy of saying the term 2017-2022 was genuinely his.
“What President Uhuru is doing, he knows that he is a good man and he remembers his history,” he said.
“There are three people who have played significant roles in history. The late Daniel Moi, Deputy President, William Ruto and Raila Odinga.
“Kenyans know that, without Moi, Uhuru would never have been president, Uhuru would never even have been an MP.
“He was defeated in a Gatundu, so he owes him. On the other part, Everybody knows without William Ruto, it would have been fairly difficult for the president to make it in 2013 and 2017. Uhuru remembers.
“Finally, without Raila Odinga, Uhuru was never going to have the legitimacy of saying that the term 2017 to 2022 was genuinely his.
“So they have all helped him. He has, there was a good man made a decision.
“Legally president Uhuru won the election in 2017. What he was fighting for was political legitimacy.
“What he did not know is that those of us who were in NASA, We were also divided.
“There were those of us who believed that the fight was over. But there are those who say, no, we go on, including going to pretend that you’re taking a presidential oath.
“So, he was looking for political legitimacy, he succeeded,” he said.
