The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate for Kiagu constituency ward by-election in Meru County has exuded confidence in taking up the seat.
In interview with Baite Tv, Simon Kiambi said that he would emerge victorious ahead of other aspirants with 2000 votes in the by-election slated for October 15.
The UDA party is associated with Deputy President William Ruto.
“I am the founder of the Kiambi foundation in Kiagu. The work that needs to be done in Kiagu is to ensure unity among all villages,” said Kiambi.
He said he initiated the calls for unity by awarding school boxes to the top three performers in public schools in Kiagu ward.
“I also purchased mathematical sets for their exams. While I was attending a church service, there was a child named Eunice Kariungi from Makandune village who had dropped out of school came seeking assistance,” said Kiambi.
“I enrolled her in St. Paul School as proof of my actions. I enrolled another child, Sharon, in Kiija day school, as well as another,” said Kiambi.
Kiambi said Kiagu would not develop through propaganda and lies. He said that he is saved, and just as he sought the riches of the earth, he also sought the riches of heaven.
“I have a dream for Makandune Day Secondary School, which is why I donated a lorry of brick stones to help with its construction so that more of our children can enroll,” said Kiambi
Kiambi said he intends to approach Mitunguu ward MCA for discussions about collaborating on the construction of the Rikana bridge so that the children in MCA Betty Mitunguu ward can attend Makundune day school.
“I’ll make sure that a bridge connects North Imenti on the Kwa Mogiti side so that the road can be opened up and the Kiamuri business network can thrive,” said Kiambi.
He said the road would enable cars to travel from North Imenti to Kiagu Ward.
I intend to go on a door-to-door mission in search of less fortunate students whose parents cannot afford school boarding school fees.
He said he would enroll those students in day public schools and pay fees of Ksh 4000. He said it was inequitable for one parent to receive a Ksh 30,000 bursary after buying it for Ksh 10,000.
“The late Eunice Karegi had a team of staff members that included a clerk who is also an aspirant, ward administrator Harun Muthamia, who is also an aspirant, and personal assistant Milton Mwenda, who is also an aspirant,” said Kiambi
Kiambi said that while in a Methodist church in Kiagu, the team handed over a Ksh 10 million cheque to the Mutethia water project community group, which had been allocated by the National Government.
He said that the residents of Kiija village demanded accountability for the money because it belonged to Kiagu ward residents.
