Kiambu: Women call for Wa Muchomba’s resignation

Gathoni Wa Muchomba’s move two days ago now seems to be provoking political heat.

Different women’s groups in collaboration with some leaders have said Wa Muchomba’s decision is personal.

“From today we know that the rights of Kiambu women have not been advocated for in the Kenyan Parliament,” said a member of a women’s group.

The women were led by Kiambu Deputy governor Joyce Wanjiku Ngugi.

“Kiambu assembly has 32 women who are leaders and have been elected through Jubilee and they are standing with Kiambu and protect Kiambu. We have not lost anything, we are strong and solid,” said the Deputy governor.

The women claim they were not involved in the decision she made.

“As women of Kiambu, we know that Wa Muchomba has no vote. The Deputy president should know that this woman will not add any value to his camp. He should be very careful because a traitor is always a traitor. Kiambu does not want her and she has embarrassed the President,’ said another member of a women’s group.

The women are proposing that she be removed as Chairperson of the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA).

“We have not made any progress, she has not used the position to defend us and to defend our welfare as Kiambu women. So we ask that she be removed from as Chairperson and the position be given to another woman who has experience in defending women,” said another member of a women’s group.

The women urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to probe some of the politicians around him and expel all traitors. They also warned the Deputy President about politicians from Mount Kenya.
