A Meru-based musician has said that just as Kiraitu stepped aside as a minister in former President Mwai Kibaki’s government to allow investigations into the Anglo leasing scandal, Juliana Mugure, the acting CEO of Meru County Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sports, and Culture and CEC Koome Miriti should step aside to allow investigations into the theft of money intended for musicians.
Speaking to Baite Tv, he said that despite being one of Kiraitu’s top supporters during the 2017 general election campaigns, he was attacked and stabbed in the rib because he was a Tigania and a Kiraitu supporter.
He claimed that after winning the election, Kiraitu stopped returning his calls and sent his officials to hand over Sh1000 to him.
He said that when media professionals in Meru County cover the concerns raised by Meru-based established artists, Kiraitu’s government bribes them.
“Kiraitu was supported by Meru-based-established artists until he formed the government, but our proposals have never been accepted. I have supported Kiraitu since he was elected as an MP, and he quotes himself as supporting the Nyambene stars on page 90 of his book, an Undersay of Kiraitu Murungi,” he said.
According to the musician, Kiraitu is dictating Meru County because he is not listening to the established concerns raised by the Meru-based established artists.
“I have received less than Ksh 30,000 from Kiraitu so far. The fruits he is currently enjoying are a result of our hard work and sweat. DCI Director George Kinoti should conduct investigations into the Meru County Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sports, and Culture because there is a lot of corruption there,” he said.
He said that Juliana Mugure and Koome Miriti were handed their positions on a silver platter and had no say in the formation of Kiraitu’s government.
He said that Juliana Mugure should stop tying the public office to her personal life and that Kiraitu believes that the Meru-based established artists are only interested in money.
“When some Meru county officials were appointed, they had nothing, but now they have protruding bellies as a result of stealing money meant for musicians,” he said.
“All public offices, beginning with the Governor, Senator, Member of Parliament, Woman Rep, and MCA, should be transparent. The Meru County Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sports, and Culture receives millions of Shillings each year, but the funds never make it into our pockets,” he said.
He said that the majority of those who received the money in the MYS making stars event were over 60 years old including Wamunyota.
“Money intended for Meru-based established artists is stolen by a few Meru County government officials. I decided not to enter the contest in order to give room to upcoming artists, but the majority of the money went to elderly people,” he said.
The musician said that he preferred Meru County Woman Rep Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza to Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi because she enrolled him in a driving course and was able to provide for my family thanks to the driver jobs.
