Municipality MCA Elias Murega has said that when Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi holds a meeing with other leaders, he should not claim that all the Ameru people are involved.
“We intend to return leadership to the people. We cannot be shown the way if the people have not sat down and made a decision. Politics based on deception, betrayal, and conmanship are a thing of the past. Everyy voter is becoming clever s a result of modern politics. Politicians should stand up for what they believe in,” Murega said.
He said that what Kiraitu said about Raila made the Ameru people realize they had been duped all along.
“As youth leaders, we are opposed to deception, mudslinging, and being influenced to vote for a preferred candidate. We disagree with Kiraitu Murungi when he claims there is nothing wrong with Raila despite the fact that he made him look bad in the past,” Murga said.
Ruiri Rwarera MCA Peter Mutuma Kalembe said Ameru people will not allow Governor Kiraitu Murungi to make decisions on their behalf and then claim that the decision belongs to the Ameru people.
He said there was truth in Kiraitu Murungi’s sentiments that he made Raila look bad in Mt. Kenya in order for Kibaki and Uhuru to win elections.
“Times have changed, and things are not the same as they were in the past. We should not wait to be told which leader to vote for. This is the time to look into each politician’s background and learn about their flaws. The flaws will help us choose the best leader. We do not want a repeat of the situation in which a few people met behind closed doors only to tell us about their plans later,” said Kalembe.
Hon. Kalembe requested that all leaders of Meru County be invited to any meetings for the Ameru people.
