Kiraitu’s government implicated in suspected bribe plot

Must read

A female protester has revealed that individuals in his group were paid between Ksh 400 and Ksh 200 to join demonstrations against the June 28 protest, which took place in Meru town against Meru County Woman Representative Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza.

The June 28 protest was organized by nominated Meru Female MCAs led by Ruth Kananu, Secondina Kanana, Gacheri Muthuri, Salome Mutua.

The protesters who were hired to demonstrate have come out demanding their agreed payment of Ksh 1000 from the organizers.

The organizers did not stop with the protests. According to Son of Monica, they approached members of several groups in Meru County funded by Meru NGAAF Patron Hon Bishop Kawira Mwangaza and offered them bribes to lie to media outlets about not receiving the funding.

Son of Monica implored the residents of Meru County, particularly those in Nyambene, to reject the bribes and stand up for the truth.

“We are aware of another protest organized by the nominated Meru Female MCAs had also been scheduled to take place on July 2 against Meru County Woman Representative Hon. Bishop Kawira Mwangaza,” said Son of Monica.

“I’m curious why there were no protests in 2018 or 2019, but only now as we approach the general elections. Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi planned a five-year lie in his manifesto rather than a hundred-year lie. Four years have passed, and he is unable to account for any progress in Meru County.

“The years 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020, and 2020-2021 have passed. We are approaching the fiscal year 202-2021, and what he promised in his manifesto of lies has yet to be fulfilled.

“What the women nominated MCAs wondered was how, despite being allocated a small budget by the national government, the office of Kawira Mwangaza was able to fund community groups, award and disburse bursary funds to educate students, donate desks, chairs, and uniforms to schools, donate tents and chairs to communities, donate water storage tanks to communities, and support victims of gender-based violence, support people living with disabilities.

“They became envious when they realized her work was being recognized by the people of Mashinani. They also realized that when they organized protests against Hon Kawira Mwangaza, no one responded because they had been deceiving the people of Meru for the past five years with false promises that were never fulfilled.

“Governor Kiraitu Murungi promised Ksh 100 million per ward per year. Later, it was reduced to Ksh 50 million. Residents have yet to receive a single cent. The national government has allocated Ksh 40 billion to Meru County Government over the last four years.

“Roads in remote areas of every ward remain in disrepair, hospitals have yet to be upgraded, people fetch water with barrels, and community groups have received no funding from the county government. Kiraitu Murungi’s government continues to claim that it is making Meru great.

“I’d like to inform the people of Meru County that more protests are being planned by the nominated MCAs targetting Hon Kawira Mwangaza.

“The organizers want to mobilize people to hold protests like the ones that occurred during the tenure of former Meru Governor Munya. My question to the people of Meru is, how long will you continue to be lied to? During the 2017 general election campaigns, you were promised that Meru would be made great, but this has proven impossible.

“I implore youth, the elderly, women, and men to awaken and open their eyes. Meru County’s only eye is Hon Kawira Mwangaza. Some say Kiraitu Murungi, the governor, is a crocodile that is still in the water,” he said.

Son of Monica said that the residents of Meru County should understand that Hon Bishop Kawira Mwangaza is a bird on the verge of sprouting wings which will restore the wealth back to the people after being voted for unanimously on August 9, 2022 as the Meru governor.
