Know your MCA: Elias Kiriinya Kithinji, Kiirua/Naari

Must read

Residents of Kiringo village in Buuri are appealing to the MCA and governor Kiraitu to rehabilitate roads, culverts, and bridges within the village.

They said their farm produce and crushed ballast can’t be delivered on impassable roads. Led by a village resident Mwenda, they cited the Miugune road which connects the main road , saying it is unusable.

“The deplorable Miugune road has the greatest impact on boda boda riders, pregnant women, and school children,” he said.

“The area is well-known for its thriving ballast crushing industry and we wonder if the buyers are supposed to fly to the quarries. We can’t say we have anything to be proud of,” Mwenda said.

John, speaking on behalf of ballast crushers said: ” Due to the nature of the Kabura-Kigwaa road, the business is becoming difficult. Buyers avoid driving to the quarry site to avoid causing damage to their lorries, putting the business’s viability in jeopardy.

“Children from a nearby school are playing on a rocky field. You can imagine the innumerable injuries they sustain when they unintentionally collide with or fall on a rock.

“A message to the MCA: It’s been officially a chorus that every time we file a complaint, it goes unanswered. We demand that you come out of hiding and start working. We voted for you out of respect. Please return the favor.”

Another resident said: “We’re curious about what the leaders we elected do. The county government has abandoned us, and looking at the state of our roads, you’d regret voting ever again.

“When it comes to underdevelopment, the MCA is not left out. We are only useful to him when the campaigns are approaching.”

Another resident said: “Kiraitu Noo PEU in 2022. We’ll send him home to graze and farm tea. He went to sleep in the office while we were in excruciating pain.

“The road is in disrepair, and it has harmed our donkey carts. We are forced to transport potatoes in containers one at a time.

Kiraitu promised to fix the road after we elected him, but he has never returned. He only does one thing: he lives in Nairobi.”
