Three Kenya Defence forces soldiers have died after sustaining injuries during a Lamu IED attack.
On Tuesday morning, soldiers on routine duty in Baure, Lamu, were ambushed along the Bodhei-Kiunga route, with casualties airlifted to Nairobi for medical treatment.
According to KDF Spokesperson Zipporah Kioko, a multi-agency security unit is now pursuing the perpetrators of the heinous assault.
To prevent the attackers from leaving the city, security officers are stationed at all entrances and exits.
“In support of the current efforts, Baure area residents have shared credible information on the identities of the sympathizers of the attackers,” She said.
Kioko praised the soldiers’ bravery during the attack and praised the speed at which other security agencies responded.
“KDF remains unbowed, and together with the multi agency security teams deployed under operation Amani Boni, has the resolve to bring sustainable peace in the area,” She said.
