Lawyer Kigunda Gikunda M’raibuta has been released on a Sh.200,000 cash bail after he was arrested and charged with forging an official document contrary to section 351 of the penal code.
His arrest came after attending the funeral of former Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti and was taken into custody at Muthaiga police station.
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo during a virtual court session, he denied the charges.
Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo ruled that an application by the prosecution not to release the accused on bail pending the apprehension of the two other supposedly key suspects was to be allowed only to the extent of one working day up to the 9th of August 2021 at 2:30 pm and it was to be in open court.
Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo, he was released on a bond of Sh.500,000 with one surety or a cash bail of Sh.200,000.

“Copies of the charge sheet, all witness statements and intended exhibits be availed to the defense to prepare for hearing. This file is now allocated to court number 1 for hearing on the 27 of October 2021,” Magistrate Atambo said.
The case was set for mentioning on August 25, 2021.
