CONFLICT is brewing between a group of Pokot community leaders and the Pokot Council of Elders who have expressed outrage over the recent move to ratify the presidential bid of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga, 2022.

This is after West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo, South Pokot MP David Pkosing, former Tiaty MP Asman Kamama who formed the new Kenya Union Party (KUP) and Senate Majority Leader Samuel Pogisio (Kanu) announced their support. supported Mr Odinga at the Unity Declaration ceremony held at the Kishaunet Exhibition Grounds, Kapenguria, on Monday.

KUP leaders presented what they described as a compromise to Mr Odinga and promised to work with him. Odinga and forming another party, was a way to avoid the cases they are facing over allegations of corruption.

Speaking to Taifa Leo in Kapenguria, the elders, led by Council Chairman John Muok, dismissed the move as “a two-man operation” and insisted that they were not involved. saying politicians have no authority to raise the issue on behalf of the community.

“Who told them they are community spokespersons. It does not matter if the Pokot are not Kalenjin. They are wrong, ”said Mzee Muok.
