Lions killed three young children today near the Ngorongoro nature reserve in Tanzania , as they were trying to find animals that had been lost to a herd, police said today.
Between the ages of 9 and 11 , the children were returning from school and entering a forest near the Ngorongoro protected area in search of the animals, explained Justin Masetzo, Arusha police chief.

“In that area, lions attacked and killed three children, while injuring another,” he added.
Located in northern Tanzania, Ngorongoro, a crater world-renowned for its landscapes and wildlife, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
