The Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Justin B.N. Muturi yesterday afternoon received His Excellency President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera of the Republic of Malawi at Parliament, when he came to pay his respects at the Mausoleum of the Kenya’s Founding Leader, H.E. Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
The Speaker was accompanied by the Deputy Speaker of the Senate, Sen. (Prof.) Margaret Kamar, the Leader of the Majority Party in the Senate, Hon. Samuel Poghisio, the Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye and the Clerk of the National Assembly, Mr. Michael Sialai.
His Excellency President Dr Lazarus Chakwera of the Republic of Malawi, who was the Chief Guest at Wang’uru Stadium in Mwea, Kirinyaga County during celebrations to mark this year’s Mashujaa Day, narrated the long historical relations between Kenya and Malawi dating back to the time of the two countries Founding Fathers namely Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Hastings Kamuzu Banda.
The Malawi Head of State said his country looks forward to a future of close cooperation and shared prosperity between Kenya and Malawi.
His Excellency Hon Lazarus Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi had arrived in Nairobi for a three-day State Visit of the Republic of Kenya accompanied by First Lady Mrs Monica Chakwera,
On Thursday, 21st October 2021, President Chakwera and First Lady Mrs Monica Chakwera were officially received at State House, Nairobi by their hosts President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
