Residents found a dead man floating in the Kathita River near Giantune bridge in Meru County.
Eyewitnesses described him as being in his twenties. He was bare-chested and wore black sneakers with a red stripe and khaki trousers.
“I noticed some motorcycles parked on the bridge and people staring down the bridge. When I got a better look at what they were looking at, I saw a dead body in the river,” said an eyewitness.

“As a parent, I am heartbroken to learn that such a young soul has left us before his time. People who take the lives of others should repent,” said another eyewitness.
“I’ve never seen anything like this happen in this area before in my life. It is unknown whether he died at the scene or was killed elsewhere and dumped there,” said another eyewitness.
It is unclear if he has been identified. The police retrieved the body and will continue investigating.
