Man found dead in water at Anchenge

Must read

Meru County: The body of a man was found from Anchenge river in Igembe on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Kirimi a resident of Anchenge in Igembe.

“I received a phone call informing me that Kirimi had been killed and was floating in the water. I couldn’t believe it, and when I arrived on the scene, I confirmed that he had died,” Joseph, said a resident.

“His eyes were scorched, and he was covered in blood stains. He appeared to have been stabbed or hit in the back of the head.

“By the time I arrived at the scene, he had been pulled from the water and placed on the bank of the river.

“I was at a loss for what to do and felt terrible. I was speechless as I waited for the police to arrive and take his body away.

“When the police arrived, I grabbed his legs and got him into the police vehicle with the help of others.

“I called for his sons and brothers and asked them to accompany the deceased to the mortuary or record a statement.

“There are a lot of bad things going on in the community, based on what I’ve seen. One of my sons was kidnapped and was about to be killed at a factory.

“When he regained consciousness, he returned home naked at 3:00 a.m. I attended to him when I returned home from Meru, where I had been working.

“All of this occurred in the same Anchenge community. We need security in Anchenge and to be taken care of. He claimed that the young men who kidnapped him savagely beat him.

“Due to an ongoing investigation, the suspects will name all those involved.

“He is a student and was accused of failing to return a borrowed motorcycle on time. After the abduction, he was taken to a distant location and would have died and it was only God who saved him after the suspects poured water on him and abandoned him to die,” said Joseph.

“We found out about his death in the morning. We were running errands after breakfast when we heard about a person who had been discovered dead in water,” said Christine Mukiri, a niece of the deceased.

“When I arrived at the scene, I recorded a video of the water and the surroundings. When you look at the water, you can see that it cannot drown a person.

“It is possible to cross the river while carrying a child on your back and the water cannot drown a person. There is a lack of safety in the community.

“He couldn’t have been carried by the water because there are rocks upstream that would have stopped him. I speak confidently and claim that he was murdered because he has a stab wound on the back of his ear and his eyes are red.

“He was known to drink alcohol, and if he fell on his stomach, what about the stab wound at the back of his ear? My concern is where is our security?,” she said.
