Man Hospitalized After Getting Shot By An Arrow

Must read

A man is in critical condition after DCC Igembe South says someone shot him with an arrow.

Joseph Sawe said the injury happened at Kianda village, Maua in Meru County. Sawe said the man was wounded with an arrow during the ongoing conflict that exists between communities over disputed agricultural land.

Sawe said the victim was taken to Maua Methodist hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

“The problem we have as a government is that the residents took the law into their own hands and attacked others with machetes and arrows. In another incident, two people were killed earlier this year as a result of conflicts over disputed land. Currently, we have a case in which one person is hospitalized,” said Sawe.

According to Sawe, the government will not allow another similar incidence to occur in the future. He urged locals to report to the police when conflicts arise.

“They should refrain from attacking others with machetes, bows, and arrows. Every resident has the right to live in the community, and some were born and raised there. The government does not want a situation in which residents attack one another when there is a law and a court system in place,” said Sawe.

Sawe urged residents to report any incidents to the nearest DCI office or police station, and the cases would be handled in accordance with the law.

“When a resident takes the law into their own hands, they will be arrested, taken into custody, arraigned in court, and charged. Residents believe the case of the man shot with a bow and arrow is simple, but the law considers it attempted murder,” said Sawe.

Sawe said that investigations were ongoing, and once completed, the suspects would be arrested.
