A mentally ill man allegedly stabbed a boda boda rider to death following an argument in Makutano in Meru County and later ran into a police station with a blood-stained knife after being chased after by an irate mob and stabbed a policeman on the cheek.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased, Ronaldo was pronounced dead on the scene.
Ronaldo was sitting on his motorcycle when the suspect, Kanyugi, stabbed him to death following an argument, according to an eyewitness.
An eyewitness, Fredrick, told Baite Tv that he suspected Kanyugi wasn’t mentally ill because he knew how to save himself when he fled to a police station.
Another eyewitness requested the police to hand over the suspect to the mob so they could teach him a lesson.
“According to reports, the deceased was living with his grandmother who is said to be a fruit vendor near the Annex plaza,” said another eyewitness.
Another eyewitness requested the government to allow the residents to carry daggers in town for protection.
“I’m curious if we’re supposed to defend ourselves as its the government’s duty,’ said an eyewitness.
According to another eyewitness, a mentally ill person should not have been allowed to walk around town with a knife because he had the potential to kill a large number of people.
