Man Overpowers Armed Motorcycle Robbers In Another Serious Heist

Must read

An enraged mob set fire to the motorcycles belonging to two suspects near the Thuuru primary school junction in Meru County, said the assistant chief.

According to the victim, the two speeding motorcycles were suddenly parked next to his motorcycle when he made stop on his way back from Maili tatu.

He said that one of the suspects pulled out a machete and attempted to slash his neck, but he defended myself with his arm and was cut.

“I was on my way back from Maili Tatu, where I had gone to pick up my father his friend. When we arrived in Kathiine around 10:30 p.m., two motorcycles passed us in the opposite direction,” said the victim.

He said that he became suspicious, and when he checked his side mirror, he noticed that they had not turned around.

“When we arrived in the village, I had to drop off one of the passengers, a friend of my father’s,” he said.

“Two speeding motorcycles were suddenly parked next to us when I stopped. One of the suspects pulled out a machete and attempted to slash my neck, but I defended myself with my arm and was cut,” he said.

“When more attempts to sever my head were made, I dropped the motorcycle to the ground and took cover beneath it,” he said.

“My father was squatting and had a machete with him. We had a chance to look for stones with the other passenger and throw them at the suspects while he was attacking them,” he said.

“The sound of the machettes crashing into each other could be heard clearly, and when my father appeared to have overcome them, they fled towards Thuuru village,” he said.

“They seemed to be unfamiliar with the routes when they arrived in the village. Simultaneously, a crowd began to form and countered them,” he said.

“When they were overpowered, they abandoned the motorcycles and fled. The motorcycles were later set on fire by villagers,” he said.

The assistant chief, Muriuki, said that it instilled fear in a resident who had apprehended one of the suspects for fear of his house being burned down which prompted him to release him.

“During the night incident, I informed the Mulingene Chief Inspector of Police, but he said that at that time of night, he was unable to offer assistance,” said Muriuki.

“He requested that we deliver the suspects to the police, but we realized that doing so would be too dangerous because he could have been killed by a mob,” said Muriuki.

“We have collected critical evidence, such as an Itel phone that was left behind, and we intend to deliver it to the detectives to aid in their investigations,” said Muriuki.

According to the Peter, the suspects planned to murder him, his son and another passenger before stealing the motorcycle.

“We went to Mulingene police station to report the incident and were given an OB number. We leave it up to the police to conduct their own investigations,” said Peter.

The assistant chief appreciated Nyumba Kumi members who escorted the victims to the police station at 4:00 a.m. to report the incident.
