A Man identified as Kirianki is recovering from a broken leg after an alleged assault by his brother, the assistant chief of Mwomaau-Nkandone in Igembe of Meru county, on claims that he bit him.
An Eyewitness said that when confronted and asked if he broke Kirianki’s leg, he said he didn’t and that if he had, he would have broken many legs.
“He refused to admit it despite the presence of witnesses. I demand justice for Kirianki, as well as the arrest of the Nyumbakumi elders who were his accomplices,” she said.
A resident said that Kirianki was known for being a calm and innocent man who can’t even hurt a fly. She was shocked to learn that his leg had been broken.
Kirianki’s son said that he was at the bus stop when he learned that his father had been attacked. He hopped into a bodaboda and got home to find him lying down in pain with the assistant chief, his brother Ngiluu, holding a stick and several men standing beside him.
“They fled when people began to gather. I got my father into a car and took him to Maua hospital. Later, We made a police report about the incident. I beg the government to sack Ngiluu because he is also unhelpful to the residents,” he said.
Kirianki’s wife said that when she arrived home, she called his brother-in-law, Julius Gitonga, and requested that they take Kirianki to the hospital because any further delay would cause the leg to rot. The X-ray scan report revealed that he had a fractured leg and hand.
“I humbly request that the government assist in apprehending Ngiluu and his accomplices. I’m eager to learn the truth about why Ngiluu assaulted Kirianki. He told me that Kirianki has children who could help him,” he said.
Another eyewitness said that when he was informed that Kirianki’s leg had been broken, he went to check on him and found him lying down in pain beside the road.
“He asked me to bring him a cloth from his house to wrap his leg. When I returned and attempted to wrap it, I heard the sound of fractured bones and requested that we go to the hospital,” he saod.
