Meru ODM officials declared their support for Kiraitu Murungi in his efforts to ensure that the Ameru people are not left out of government by leading them to Raila Odinga.
Igembe North ODM chairman Zakayo Muriuki while speaking at Laare factory grounds said he supported Kiraitu and his team for endorsing Raila Odinga’s 2022 bid.
“I am delighted that Kiraitu has joined ODM, and I welcome him with open arms,” said Muriuki.
A Meru ODM party official urged Kiraitu to work with Agriculture CS Peter Munya to ensure that Meru County is well represented in the next government.
He implored the Ameru people to join Munya and Kiraitu in forming the next government.
Kiraitu said the Raila he Knew was a man of great energy, focus, and determination.
“Nothing will stop Raila from going where he wants to go. We are bound together by interests. You scratch my back I scratch your back,” Kiraitu said.
According to another Meru ODM party official, Kiraitu and Raila knew each other for a long time. He said those who were previously known to be against him recently joined his camp.
“We’ve been in Raila’s camp for a long time. Kiraitu declared his support for Raila after learning that he would form the next government,” said a party official.
Another Meru ODM party official said he was overjoyed for Kiraitu and Raila working together.
He said the area was known as Kisumu Ndogo because many of its residents supported the ODM party and party leader Raila Odinga.
