Police on Monday, July 7 lobbed teargas to disperse rioting Meru National Polytechnic students along Meru – Nanyuki highway in Meru County.
Following a series of strikes that rocked the institution, It was closed indefinitely. The students were given 30 minutes to leave the institution.

They claimed that last week’s student union elections were rigged.

As police engaged the students in running battles, security officials were stationed throughout the area.
