Gerevasio Akula, Meru’s legendary Gospel musician, blamed the Meru county government for using and dumping his music on corona virus sensitization.
He claims the Meru county government through kiraitu murungi received ksh 900,000 from the national government as payment to musicians.
Akula informed Baitetv that the money was being shared at Kaaga. The response he got after requesting his share was that there was no money left. He stated that he believed Meru county women representative Hon. Kawira Mwangaza claims that the kiraitu murungi led government steals public funds intended for the Meru county government that it receives from the national government
The musician pleaded with Meru county officials to promote youth talent by recognizing his work training young musicians in order to encourage more local musicians to enter the industry.
According to Akula, a single song produced by musicians in congo can earn millions. He also gave an example of kikuyu musicians in Nyahururu, where he lives, who produce one song and the returns are decent enough to start a music career and earn a living.
Akula gave hope to the upcoming youth with singing talent by giving an example of a young lady who composed a swahili song incorporating the late Jomo Kenyatta’s dedication tunes who was paid a lot of money and her education covered by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Simon Mung’atia, an Athwana resident, speaking at cggc church where Meru’s legendary Gospel musician Gerevasio Akula trains upcoming musicians with talent, pleaded with the Meru county government to pay the musician for using his songs in public sensitization to the Corona virus.
