The Principal Secretary, Ministry of Defence Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed on Friday 29 October 2021 closed a five-day Public Financial Expenditure Management Workshop at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies.
The forum that commenced on Monday 28 October 2021 brought together over 110 officials both Military and MOD civilian officers was aimed at equipping the participants with knowledge on prudent use of financial resources under their dockets.
The MOD department officials were drawn from procurement, finance, accounting, budgeting and audit departments and were trained on budgetary processes, projects oversight and management, national budget principles among other areas.
The PS urged participants to put into use the knowledge gained to make MOD a center of excellence and a benchmarking hub for other Ministries Agencies and Corporations.
He called upon the officials to ensure that all pending bills are paid promptly and that the projects are managed professionally to ensure quality and timeliness is achieved.
He emphasized that the government is undertaking major reforms in financial management processes to enhance transparency and accountability of taxpayers money.
The facilitators comprised officials from the Office of the Attorney General, National Treasury and Planning, National Construction Authority as well as the Controller of Budget.
The Ministry of Defence received an award for the “Most Facilitative Government Agency in Tax Enforcement and Recovery.
“This category of awards is dedicated to the government agency that has consistently collaborated and partnered with KRA in facilitating key tax administration, tax compliance and enforcement initiatives across the border points within the financial year.
The Award was presented by H E President Uhuru Kenyatta during the 2021 National Taxpayers’ Day.
