The Committee created to investigate the Governor’s impeachment by the County Assembly wrapped up its two-day hearing sessions on Thursday last week after hearing submissions from the County Assembly and the Governor.
The only item on the agenda for the meeting would be the consideration of the Special Committee’s report.
If the special committee concludes that the specifics of one or more of the accusations against the Governor have been substantiated, the Senate will vote on the impeachment charges after giving the Governor an opportunity to be heard.
There will be no further discussion on the allegations if the Committee deems them to be unfounded.
Governor Mohamud was impeached for abuse of office, financial impropriety, gross misconduct, and constitutional violations.
In his submission, the Governor urged the committee to reach a fair decision in favor of the Wajir people.
On April 27, he was impeached by a majority of 37 MCAs against 10.
