A lorry collided with a car along the Ruiri-Nchoroiboro road in Mukungu town. The crash included five vehicles. The car, a Probox, was traveling at high speeds, an eyewitness said.

“I was called and informed that an accident involving five cars, one of which was transporting Miraa, occurred along the Ruiri-Nchoroiboro road in Mukungu town,” said Pastor Mescheck Muthaura of Ruiri full gospel market.

“When I arrived on the scene, I noticed that the car transporting Miraa had been completely damaged and had no engine. A lorry transporting potatoes had overturned, scattering the potatoes all over the place.

“A short distance away, another lorry was parked. Causalities had already been transported to the Kiirua Hospital. The vehicles were taken to Subuiga police station by the officers.

“I urge drivers to exercise caution when driving and to avoid driving at high speeds on sloping roads. Drivers must follow all traffic regulations.

“We recently lost a pastor and a child as a result of the dangerous road. We are concerned that we will be killed as a result of the road, and we are urging the government to erect a bump. We recently installed bumps on one section of the road,” said another eyewitness.

“The lorry transporting potatoes was traveling from Nchoroiboro to Ruiri. Miraa was being transported by the Probox car from Ruiri to Nchoroiboro,” said another eyewitness.

“The Probox attempted to overtake another lorry but was unable to complete the maneuver in time, resulting in a head-on collision with the lorry transporting potatoes.

“The road is classified as a bypass, and bypass roads do not have bumps, according to government records. Nonetheless, we urge the Kiraitu government to erect bumps on the road, despite the fact that it is a bypass.
