Kiagu Ward MCA aspirant Munene O Murithi thanked Igoji West MCA aspirant Casty Micheni for bringing together the youth to attend the peacebuilding youth leadership innovation and entrepreneurship (PYLIEMgv) workshop under the strategic initiatives unit Executive Office of the president.
The Out-of-school Youth Science, Technology and Innovation (OSYSTEI) program, which was also attended by Akachiu ward MCA aspirant Dorris Makutho, seeks to catalyse pro-youth actions to address the dreams and ambitions of the out-of-school youth in the country by creating a culture of curiosity, creativity, innovation, productivity, and entrepreneurship.
The workshop aimed at strengthening the capacity of youth and women and the local leaders to manage and prevent conflict and improve trust among warring groups, provide women and youth with ST&I skills which can be used to improve employment and livelihoods prospects through the digital hub.
“I’d like to thank the president for believing in our fellow youth and sending her to coordinate and bring the youth together to discuss our problems and the challenges that our youth face so that we can support each other through positive conversations,” said Munene O Murithi.

“The workshop provided an opportunity for the youth to discuss and identify their problems, challenges, and barriers to economic growth.
“Through the strategic initiative unit team, we’ve learned how to live together and effect change in youth leadership.
“We’ve also been educated how to avoid conflict amongst ourselves.
“I implore the youth to refuse being bought with Ksh 100 or 50 and instead choose leaders who will change our future.
“Our future requires that we elect a leader who will enact laws that will alter our farming practices, as well as small businesses owned by the youth.
“I encourage young people to vote for young leaders who understand the challenges that young people face and what needs to be done in our businesses.
“I am happy because, thanks to our friend Casty Micheni, we’ve been educated on how to unite, fight bribery and the challenges that we face.
“We’ve been advised against being bought by politicians and to avoid throwing stones or fighting during elections.
“I was educated and learned that as youth, we should not engage in discussions that divide us, but rather discussions that enable us to help each other.
“We’ve been encouraged to form youth groups such as SACCOs, CBOs, and self-help groups, which will receive government support and help us to uplift ourselves.
“I’d like to tell the youth that they are their own strength and that a house without a foundation falls down.
“The youth are rising, and I implore the public to rally behind them.
“A youthful leader understands the difficulties that other young people face and what they lack in order to succeed.
“In Ameru, it is said that the person who wears the shoe knows where it presses.
“The youth should elect a youthful leader who understands the challenges they face and will be able to protect and assist them.
“A youthful leader has the energy to work without becoming tired.
“Youthful leaders are always thinking about the future because they know they have a long life ahead of them.
“I urge the youth to elect youthful leaders because they will assist and protect them,” he said.
