Unknown circumstances led to the death of a middle-aged man at a guest house in Nanyuki town on Tuesday evening.
After unsuccessful attempts to contact the occupant from outside, staff at the guest house in the heart of town discovered that the room in which the man had booked had been locked for the better part of the day and decided to break open the door.
When the attendants broke open the door, they discovered his dead body on the floor, along with a packet of used condoms and an empty bottle of liquor in the room’s dustbin. They immediately called the cops, who arrived soon after to collect the body.
The man was not formally booked into the premises, according to police officers at the scene who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to speak to the press. This raised significant concerns.
“The management of this place has failed to produce a receipt book of all bookings for today and the previous days’, something that raised some concerns about their operations. We have picked one of the members of staff who was on duty on Monday night so that she can shed some light,” said an officer.
