National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi has called on MPs who are opposed to the degree qualification requirement for next year’s elective posts to bring amendments to the floor of parliament as opposed to discussing the issue in public forums.
“The matter is already in court and I’ve also seen some statements. I’ve not seen any legislative proposal. I’ve seen some statements out in the villages and members saying they are going to bring bills. But they have only stated that. They have not carried on what it should have been done, to bring in a legislative proposal seeking to amend section 22 of the Elections Act. That is the way it is done,” said Muturi
Muturi, who attended Sunday’s church service in Thika town also added that the constitution is keen on having a high level of professionalism.
