The Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare in the National Assembly, chaired by Mwea MP Hon Kabinga Wachira, today met with the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection; Simon Chelugui, accompanied by the two Principle Secretaries in the Ministry.
The Meeting, was for the CS and his team to respond to questions asked by Members of Parliament, among them:
1. Question No. 191/2021 by Nominated Member Hon. Godfrey Osotsi, M.P regarding the plight of Kenyans working in the Middle East, and the recurrent reports of deaths by Kenyans working in the gulf.
2. Question No.207/2021 by Member for Konoin Constituency (Hon. Brighton Yegon, M.P) regarding impending retrenchment of over 50,000 tea pluckers in Bomet and Kericho Counties in view of introduction of mechanization of tea picking by multinationals.
