Nine people have been killed in a fire that broke out in a nursing home in the eastern Bulgarian village of Rojak, and some inmates were injured by inhaling the smoke, a senior Interior Ministry official said.
The fire started from the wooden roof of the building, late tonight. The nursing home was home to 58 elderly people, according to Tihomir Totev, head of the local fire service.Remaining Time-0:00FullscreenMute
“When the six fire trucks arrived, the roof was engulfed in flames and black smoke was coming out. “Firefighters started removing the inmates, but unfortunately some of them lost their lives,” he said.
The causes of the fire are being investigated.
