On behalf of the njuri ncheke national chairman Linus Kathera, the secretary-general of progress, Mr. Muthamia, and all Njuri ncheke elders, Njuri ncheke secretary-general Josphart Murangiri thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for his measures to combat the coronavirus.
Murangiri also urged Kiraitu Murungi led Meru county government to give priority to Njuri Ncheke elders during the vaccination in all sub counties as they are the most vulnerable because of their low immunity. He pleaded with people in Meru and Tharaka nithi counties to have a human heart and provide help to those hit most by the pandemic.
The secretary-general requested the national and Meru county governments to cushion the small businesses which contain mostly the younger generation who contribute a lot to the GDP.
He proposed suspending licenses for three months and not viewing it as a revenue loss because people will eventually die from hunger and poverty, rendering development initiatives ineffective. He also praised women in both countries for their economic contributions and asked governments to help them.
Mr. Murangiri thanked the teachers for looking after the students while they were at school. He did, however, blame parents for neglecting their children, exposing them to early marriages during the long break caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Finally, he asked the church to play a role in ensuring that children maintain morals at home.
