Must read

Ntharene High School in Meru County proved that they were still a force to reckon with when they posted very impressive results in 2020’s KCSE examination.

The students proved their pundits wrong by producing over 30 University candidates.

Speaking at the school after the announcement of the results, Principal Zachary Nguku hailed this year’s performance with 38 out of the total 135 candidates who sat for the 2020 KCSE qualifying for university admission.

“38 out of the total 135 candidates who sat for the 2020 KCSE translates to 29.5% qualifying for university admission. 66 C- (minus) and C (plain) out of the total 135 candidates who sat for the 2020 KCSE translates to 80% qualifying for diplomas and TVET admission,” he explained.

“We targeted producing over 40 University candidates but due to the coronavirus pandemic, we fall short by 2 candidates. However, we remain on track,” he added.

He attributed the good performance to hard work amongst the students and teachers as well as a mutual understanding between the teaching staff, parents and other stakeholders.

Lilian Gituma, a Kiswahili subject teacher, told BaiteTV that the best subject in 2020’s KCSE examination was Kiswahili where half of the students scored C+ and above. She attributed the good performance to teamwork with teacher Mr. Murinjo and Ms. Winnie.

She said that the mean score target for this year is 6.2.

Erick Kimathi, Hod Languages, said the school posted over half of the students with more than C+ in English subject, which he says was a remarkable improvement from last year. “Our mean score target for this year is 6.5,” he added.
