OCS accused of allegedly obstructing justice

Must read

Kangeta police station OCS has been allegedly accused of obstructing justice by dismissing pending criminal charges against a suspect.

According to Timothy Mutwiri, he was robbed by two men on May 1 and recognized one of them. He reported the robbery to Kangeta police station in Meru county and was asked to provide witnesses, which he did.

“It took a lot of effort to get a warrant of arrest for the police. I was always told he has not been traced when I inquired.

“When I tracked him down on my own and informed the police, they told me that their vehicle was out of fuel and that I would have to pay for his arrest.

“The suspect was apprehended after I borrowed money and gave it to the police. I was asked to purchase copies of fingerprint forms, and when I returned them, two wealthy individuals arrived and went straight to the OCS’s office.

“I decided to go home and sleep after the OCS ordered the suspect’s release. On May 3, I went to the police station and asked the officer attached to my case to accompany me to court, as I believed that the suspect had been released on police bail.

“I was instructed to go to the Maua court where I spent the entire day waiting for my case to be mentioned. I called the officer, who informed me that the OCS had ordered his release and that the suspect had also sued me.

“I informed a lawyer who was present at the court about my case, and he asked for the phone number of the police officer and inquired as to why my file had not been presented to the court.

“The officer stated that the case was being handled by the OCS. I have no faith in the OCS because he discriminates against the poor. I’ve been humiliated because, despite spending a lot of money on my case, the case has not been acted upon.

“I called BaiteTv to cover my case and am hoping to get help from Bishop Hon Kawira Mwangaza,” said Mutwiri.
