ODM leader Raila Odinga responds to critics

Must read

Western Kenyan leaders, led by Lugari MP Ayub Savula, have accused Raila of neglecting the Western region when negotiating for development projects in his own backyard, despite the region’s support for him in past elections.

Raila responded by saying that the president’s efforts in Kisumu and other parts of Nyanza were aimed to help all of East Africa and the Great Lakes area, not only the people.

“The rehabilitated port of Kisumu is not meant for Nyanza or Kisumu county. It is meant to serve East Africa, the Great Lakes region and the Horn of Africa through River Nile,” said Raila.

“The revamped railway line is not terminating in Kisumu. It will extend from Kisumu to Butere in Kakamega county. Another revamped metre gauge line will run from Nakuru to Eldoret, both in Rofat Valley,” he said.

“In Kakamega, the country witnessed a partnership between the national and Kakamega county governments to complete an international stadium and a teaching and referral hospital. There were no complaints by other leaders,” posed Raila.
