LEADERS of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) have insisted they will join one of them to run for the presidency in 2022 as the ODM and Jubilee parties yesterday officially announced their reunion.

At a two-day meeting held at the Great Rift Valley Hotel, Naivasha, Nakuru County, OKA leaders – Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Gideon Moi (Kanu) and Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) – however, failed to name who they were. he will run for the presidency.

“We have unanimously agreed that the OKA coalition will have a candidate for the presidency in 2022. The candidate who will fly the OKA flag is here,” said OKA officials.

The leaders said they were pleased with the steps they had taken in weaving their alliance and stressed that they would unite to the top.

If they hold to this position, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s efforts to persuade them to join ODM party leader Raila Odinga are likely to hit a snag.

President Kenyatta convened OKA leaders and Mr Odinga at the Mombasa Palace and called for them to work together for the 2022 general election.

A few kilometers from the Great Rift Valley Hotel where they met, there was a meeting led by Mr Odinga in Nakuru where the ODM and Jubilee parties officially announced their reunion.

Mr Odinga launched a UN Declaration of Action movement aimed at penetrating Mount Kenya, preaching peace, harmony, love, forgiveness and economic recovery.

The inauguration took place just hours after the Jubilee Management Committee (NMC) met in Nairobi and approved the ruling party’s secretariat to begin the process of merging with ODM.

The NMC committee instructed the Jubilee secretariat to write a letter to the Wiper and Kanu parties informing them of the decision to join the ODM.

Kanu’s party signed an agreement to join Jubilee before the 2017 elections.

The Wiper Association signed a partnership agreement with Jubilee in June 2020.After Wiper withdrew from the NASA consortium, last month, Mr Musyoka announced that the party would continue to work with Jubilee.

“The Jubilee Party will write an official letter informing Kanu and Wiper of the decision to join ODM. The door to negotiations with our partners (Kanu and Wiper) is open, ”said Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju.

Yesterday, Mr Odinga called on all Kenyans to unite to lift the economy and maintain peace in the country. “We must unite to lift our economy.

Let us not allow politicians to use poverty and unemployment in the country as a tool to seek political prominence. Let us not allow politicians to create divisions between rich and poor or between one ethnic group and another.

“As we head towards the August 9, 2022 General Elections, we must cleanse our country and remove the evil spirit of hatred and anger in order to build our country together,” said Mr Odinga.

Officials from the Mount Kenya region who attended the Nakuru ceremony, praised Mr Odinga, praising him as a wise, experienced and capable leader to lead Kenya after the next elections.

“We the people of Mount Kenya are not used to the opposition and we are not ready to go to the opposition to support other people,” said Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, referring to Deputy President William Ruto.

Ms Waiguru said that after yesterday’s meeting, Mr Odinga would start visiting various parts of Mount Kenya to seek votes.

“Raila just announcing his candidacy for the presidency has already received 40 percent of the vote before even announcing a co-candidate. Announcing his running mate gets more than 50 percent of the vote. So if the people of Mount Kenya are deceived by the one (DrR Ruto) they will find themselves outside the government, ”said Ms Waiguru.

Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth said pro-democracy leaders would take Mr Odinga to Mount Kenya to meet with residents.
