Eyewitnesses said one person is injured after a tractor ran off the roadway and struck a tree in Meru County.
It happened on Sooni-Matangine road in Tigania Sub County.
An eyewitness a tractor was traveling on the road when it ran off the road and struck a tree. He said the tractor had four occupants.
According to an eyewitness, two occupants were transported to the hospital for their injuries. He claimed that seven pedestrians narrowly avoided being hit by the tractor.
“Lorries heading to the queries endanger our children because the road is sloppy and there is a risk of reversing back when their brakes fail. The road is narrow and lacks a sidewalk,” said an eyewitness.
“There were two separate accidents recently involving two lorry lorries. One was on its way to the quarries to collect ballast, while the other was on its way to collect timber. When it rains, the road becomes impassable, forcing us to carry our children to school on our backs,” she said.
According to a resident, a bridge connecting the village to the school has never been repaired for years.
“Our MCA is nowhere to be seen and Meru Governor Kiraitu has never paid us a visit. If he does come to repair the road, we will not vote for him,” she said.
A resident said that Governor Kiraitu has only helped his people since he was elected, and he has forgotten about the rest. We don’t want to hear anything else about him.
