Doctors at a hospital in Lithuania announced today that they had discovered various small metal objects, such as screws and nails, weighing more than a kilo, in a man’s stomach .

The patient was admitted to a hospital in Klaipeda , Baltic, as he complained of acute abdominal pain.

His doctors did an X-ray and soon discovered that there were various metal objects in his stomach, some of which were up to 10 cm long, so that his life was in danger.

“During the operation lasting 3 hours (…), all foreign bodies, even the smallest ones, were removed from the patient’s stomach,” said surgeon Saronas Dailindenas .

The hospital released a photo of the screws and nails

found in the patient’s stomach.

“We have never seen anything like it,” said Algirdas Slepavitsius , chief surgeon at Klaipeda Hospital.

According to him, the man started swallowing metal objects in the last weeks after he stopped drinking.

His state of health is stable, the doctor added.
