One terror suspect was early today gunned down after detectives based in Matuga raided a militia hideout in Kwale’s Bombo area, where an AK47 rifle and 763 rounds of ammunition were confiscated.
Acting on intelligence that a group of three suspects were planning to stage an attack within the area, the officers sprung into action, ambushing the three in the said hideout.
As the three escaped, one was fatally injured in an attempt to subdue them while the other two managed to disappear with gunshot wounds.
A HP laptop, flash disk, 9 mobile phones, measuring jars, magnesium metal powder, electric bulbs, water bottles and a note listing targeted areas were also confiscated from the suspects hideout.
The area is still being combed for more suspects, with more officers deployed to beef up security in the area.Meanwhile, anti-terrorism detectives have launched investigations into the incident.
