Must read

A military force, which is not clear who is obeying the order, besieged the home of Sudanese Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, raided it and placed him under house arrest, Al Khalduath Al-Hamadath television network reported in the early hours of the morning. which he did not name.

Earlier, the same force arrested at least four ministers of the Hamdock government and a citizen participating in the governing council, according to the same sources.

In a statement, the Sudanese Professional Union – which had spearheaded the mass mobilizations that led to the overthrow of former dictator Omar al-Bashir in the 2019 military coup – called on citizens to take to the streets and “resist” any new coup.

The military has blocked all entrances to the capital and several bridges.

On Sunday, Sudanese police used tear gas to disperse hundreds of protesters trying to block the capital’s main boulevard.

Army supporters demonstrated last week, the second in a row, to demand the resignation of the government. According to the transitional authorities, the mobilizations and the episodes involve supporters of the party of Omar El Bashir, who took power in a coup and was president of Sudan until he was overthrown by the army in 2019.
