A 4-month-old girl has been allegedly murdered by a man and his wife. According to the area Chief, this horrific incident took place at a village named Kamuringe in Meru County.
Eyewitnesses said that they suspected that the accused parents had a falling out.
“I received a report that the child had died in the home of one of the community members, and I notified the police station, who responded and collected the body. Both parents were present at the time of the death and have been taken into custody. The incident has shocked us because the community is known to be peaceful,” said the Chief.
According to the chief, the child is said to be a firstborn child. He implored the members of the community to consult the Nyumba Kumi elders, the chief, and the area managers whenever they have marital disagreements.
“If the area manager is not available, they can always consult me at my office rather than breaking the law and committing a crime,” said the chief.
The grandmother to the deceased said she was deeply saddened when she learned about the incident and felt sympathy for her grandchild.
According to George, they were stunned as a community because they had never witnessed anything like that before.
He advised young people who marry too soon to consult the elders in their community and to attend church services. He said that the incident would not have happened if the accused parents had been regular churchgoers.
