Meru County Chairman for people living with disability Mr. Makarina has been accused of withholding funds. Residents of Ngongo-Imenti have urged the Meru county government to respond to their proposals.
Dickson Mutua’s mother told BaiteTv that when her son’s shoulders grew larger, she realized he had a disability.
When he began to pity himself, she became emotional, and she decided to seek treatment. She received no treatment at Igoji or Chaaria hospitals, while Chogoria hospital informed her that her son’s backbone was irreparably bent.
Another mother stated that her son’s body problems began when he was one year old. The sickness persisted to the point where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.
She stated that she was informed by the national government during the COVID-19 pandemic that funds had been allocated to people with disabilities. Following an inquiry to the chief, she realized that the money had been lost due to corruption.
“I have a special-needs son. She gets lost from time to time and is eventually found at the chief’s office. Since my child was four months old, I have been through a great deal of pain. I’m making an appeal to Kiraitu Murungi for help on behalf of the Ngongo-Imenti PWDs,” said another mother.
