Senate Majority Leader Samuel Poghishao has called on West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo to leave Kanu and seek a new party.
Prof Lonyangapuo is the only governor elected on the Kanu ticket.
Mr Poghihio’s call has sparked a war of words between the two leaders who campaigned along with the election of Kanu’s ticket in 2017, but differed last year.

Last week, Prof Lonyangapuo announced that he had left Kanu and would run for different tickets in 2022.
He said recently, he and former West Pokot governor Simon Kachapin, West Pokot Deputy Governor Nicholas Atudonyang, County Assembly Speaker Catherine Mukenyang, among other leaders, would name one of them to fight Mr Lonyangapuo in the 2022 elections.
“You can’t leave the party without following the law. Prof Lonyangapuo is still a member of Kanu, ”said Mr Poghishao.
